Car Alarms Do More than Help Prevent Vehicle Theft

Car Alarm

Whenever the media focus on vehicle theft statistics, it’s a clear reminder that there’s always the potential for someone to steal something from or vandalize or steal your vehicle. Let’s take a look at why an aftermarket vehicle security system is a wise investment.

Preventing Vehicle Content Theft

Most crimes are based on an easy opportunity. If someone walks past your car and notices a laptop bag in the back seat, they’re far more likely to check to see if the doors are locked or consider smashing a window than if nothing was visible. Thieves will watch parking lots to see who is hiding belongings in the trunk before leaving the vehicle. Your best protection is not to leave anything in the car.

If a thief decides they want to break into your car, one of the first things they’ll look for is an LED from a security system like the Compustar CS697-A. This LED is typically installed on the dash or in the center console and lets a thief know that you’ve invested in added precautions to safeguard your belongings. They don’t know whether the alarm has a shock sensor or a two-way paging system that will alert you to their tampering. Seeing this LED is a significant deterrent.

Choosing a security system with a shock sensor is a wise investment. If the thief decides the LED isn’t enough of a deterrent, they might tap on or attempt to break a window. If your car is in a parking lot or your driveway, the impact required to get into the car is enough to set off the alarm and attract attention the thief won’t want.

A multifunction sensor like the Compustar DAS-II includes dedicated glass-breakage protection that will let you know if someone tries to break a window.

Car Alarm
The DAS-II from Compustar monitors vehicle impacts, motion, tilting and glass breakage.

Protecting Your Vehicle Components

There’s a constant stream of used wheels and tires for sale on Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist. Thieves can make anywhere from a few hundred to a few thousand dollars selling a full set. To steal your wheels, a thief will need to jack up the vehicle. The Compustar DAS-II has an integrated tilt sensor that will trigger the alarm when one corner of the vehicle is raised. Best of all, the sensor recalibrates itself each time the system is armed. This process ensures that you are protected when parking on a hill or a steeply angled driveway. We always recommend adding a set of wheel locks to make stealing your wheels more difficult. This warning applies especially to Jeeps with a spare tire mounted on the back of the vehicle.

As the value of rare metals has increased, so too has the scrap value of catalytic converters. Removing a catalytic converter from a car or truck requires the use of a saw, and most thieves use a cordless hacksaw or reciprocating saw. If they didn’t have to jack up your vehicle to access the converter, the vibrations would trigger a properly calibrated shock sensor.

Ensure that You Have Communication

If the flashing LED and siren aren’t enough to scare away a thief, then investing in a car alarm with a two-way remote control or a telematics system is a good idea. Two-way remote controls like the Compustar Prime T9 included in the CSX7905-A can beep when the alarm is triggered at distances up to 3,000 feet from the vehicle. You can check the LCD screen to know what zone set off the alarm and respond appropriately.

Another option is the Drone telematics system. The Drone uses a cellular-based communication system to send security alerts to your smartphone without any concern about range. You could be at your desk on the 20th floor of an office building, sitting on your couch in an apartment or working in the middle of a large factory complex – so long as your iPhone or Android smartphone has access to the internet, you’ll receive notifications in a matter of seconds.

Car Alarm
The Prime T9 remote from Compustar provides two-way communication between your vehicle and the remote to let you know if the alarm has been triggered.

Did I Lock the Doors?

Have you ever noticed that even the smallest of distractions can derail an otherwise foolproof routine? What if you’ve arrived at home or work and someone is waiting there to talk to you? Hours later, you may wonder if you remembered to lock your vehicle. If you have a car alarm that’s integrated with the vehicle locking system, all you have to do is press the lock button on your remote or tap the lock icon in the DroneMobile app and you’re safe. The Drone system is particularly convenient when the thought of whether or not your car doors are locked arrives while you are cuddled up in bed.

Top Tips To Keep Your Vehicle Safe

Here are few things to remember if you want to keep your vehicle and its contents as safe as possible:

  • Always lock your vehicle.
  • Always set the parking brake.
  • Park in a well-illuminated area.
  • Never leave belongings, company access cards or loose change in your vehicle.
  • Invest in a high-quality car alarm with a shock sensor and LED.

Aftermarket car alarms like the Compustar CS582-A offer significantly more protection than the factory-installed security systems that come with most vehicles. Aside from all the security features, the long-range Prime G15 remotes that will let you lock the vehicle from inside your home are worth the upgrade. Think of all the hassle you can avoid with an insurance claim with this simple upgrade.

For more information about the vehicle security options available for your car or truck, visit your local Compustar dealer. You can find a shop near you using the Dealer Locator on the Compustar website.

Popular Upgrades for Your Mercedes-Benz Car or SUV

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades

Though Mercedes-Benz vehicles are typically well-equipped right off the showroom floor, your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer offers a variety of audio and convenience upgrades for them. Whether you want to add a subwoofer to warm up the sound of your stereo or install a remote car starter to take the chill off a cold winter morning, the options available for these European vehicles are extensive.

Mercedes-Benz Subwoofer Upgrades

Even if your Mercedes came equipped with a Burmester audio system, your local car audio specialist can dramatically improve the impact and emotion generated by the stereo in your vehicle by adding a subwoofer. Automakers are limited by strict weight restrictions and packaging solutions that have to appeal to buyers of all genres. If you take your music seriously, the changes you’ll hear by adding a subwoofer will be like night and day.

We aren’t talking about a booming system that you can hear from a block away, though that’s always an option. A high-quality aftermarket subwoofer can be tuned to add warmth and extension to your music. Drums will sound more realistic. A stand-up bass will invoke more emotion. Guitar riffs will flow through the car with power and authority.

Subwoofers don’t need to take up valuable space in the trunk or cargo area to do their job. An expert installation technician can often work with the space available under or behind factory panels to create a solution that sounds amazing. It can be almost impossible to visually detect that the vehicle has been upgraded.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
Ralph’s Radio in Vancouver, British Columbia, installed a 10-inch Audison subwoofer in the corner of this 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML63 SUV. As you can see, the entire cargo area remains fully accessible.

Custom Audio System Upgrades

If you aren’t happy with the balance or output capabilities of the audio system in your Benz, you can look into upgrading the system with new speakers, high-power amplifiers and a digital signal processor. New speakers deliver dramatically improved clarity and, when driven with enough power, let you turn up the volume without the system distorting. A digital signal processor is a fancy name for a computerized equalizer. Reflections off the glass, leather, metal and wood inside your car wreak havoc with the sound produced by the speakers. A properly trained technician can use the signal processing tools in a DSP to create a realistic soundstage across the front of your vehicle that delivers music with amazing accuracy. Your commute to work can replicate the experience of sitting at the console of a world-class recording studio.

Rear-Seat Entertainment Solutions

If you have children who would benefit from being able to watch movies while on a long road trip, consider having a rear-seat entertainment solution installed in your Benz. Depending on the year and model of your Mercedes, you can choose from replacement headrests, a ceiling-mount flip-down monitor or a tablet-based system that attaches to the back of the front seats. Your kids can watch DVDs or movies from a USB memory stick to make a long drive feel like it’s flying by.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
Voxx Electronics’ headrest video system allows rear-seat passengers to watch movies or TV shows on Android-based 10.1-inch touchscreen displays.

Remote Car Starters

If you live somewhere with cold winters or in a climate that’s hot and humid, you may want to invest in a remote car starter. With the simple push of a button on a remote, your vehicle will start automatically and the climate controls will begin making the interior more comfortable. Interfaces that communicate directly with the computers in your car deliver reliable remote start functionality and are available for everything from an A-class right up to an S-class sedan or G-wagon.

Many of these car starter systems can be upgraded with a smartphone control solution like the DroneMobile from Compustar. If you’ve just walked into an airport terminal from a cross-country flight, a quick tap of an icon on your smartphone will bring your vehicle to life and make it cozy and warm or nice and cool once you are ready to leave.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
The DroneMobile smartphone interface from Compustar provides complete control over your car starter from anywhere in the world, as long as your smartphone has access to the internet.

Lighting Upgrades Add Safety

When the sun starts to set earlier, upgrading the lighting system in your Mercedes offers dramatically improved vision. Many new cars come with high-output LED lighting solutions. If you have an older model, you can upgrade incandescent bulbs with HID or LED systems that will more than double the light output. Being able to see properly at night is crucial.

Paint Protection Film

Mercedes vehicles are known for their high-quality paint finishes. If you are concerned about stone chips, parking lot scuffs and stains from road tar or bird droppings, adding paint protection film is a wise investment. Paint protection film, also known as clear bra or helicopter tape, is a thin (8-11 mil) layer of urethane that is designed to absorb impacts from objects and prevent paint damage. The higher-quality films include self-healing characteristics that will maintain the deep gloss and rich shine for up to 10 years.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
Westminster Speed and Sound near Baltimore protected the front of this 2018 Mercedes-Benz CLA250 with 3M Scotchgard Pro Series 4.0 Paint Protection Film.

Window Tinting

Car owners typically choose to have their windows tinted for two reasons: styling and comfort. There’s no denying that a nice dark tint on a black S-class looks sinister. If you are interested in comfort, modern tint films block between 97 and 99% of the UV rays from the sun to prevent sunburns. Premium nanotechnology and ceramic tint films can block more than 66% of the infrared heat energy from the sun. With heat-rejecting film installed on all the windows, the air conditioning system doesn’t have to work as hard to cool the car off and keep it cool on a hot summer day.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville, Florida, installed 3M FX Premium tint film on this 2016 CLA 250.

Backup Camera and Safety Systems

Many Mercedes vehicles didn’t come with a backup camera system or parking sensors. Several companies make camera interfaces that will allow your local mobile enhancement retailer to add a camera and display the image right on the screen of the factory infotainment system. These upgrades are not only easy to use, they work exactly like a factory-installed solution to protect you and the objects around your car or SUV from incidents while parking or maneuvering.

Mercedes-Benz Upgrades
Extreme Audio in Midlothian, Virginia, added a backup camera system to this 2013 C63 AMG coupe. The camera image displays automatically in the color screen in the dash as soon as the transmission is in reverse.

Parking sensor systems are a fully active safety solution that alerts you to the presence of an object behind your vehicle while maneuvering or backing into a parking space. The sensors can be painted to match the vehicle so they look as though they came from the factory.

Once you are within a few feet of an object, the parking sensor system will start to beep. The frequency of the beeps increases as you get closer and closer. Once you are within 12 inches of the object, the beeps change to a solid tone so you know to stop.

Personalize Your Mercedes-Benz for more Comfort and Enjoyment

Your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer has the products and services to upgrade your Mercedes-Benz to make it more comfortable, safer and more enjoyable. If there’s a feature you want or you are interested in better sound from the audio system, drop by and talk to them. We know you’ll be amazed at the solutions that are available.

Popular Audio and Convenience Upgrades for your BMW

BMW Upgrades

When it comes to enhancing or personalizing your BMW, your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer offers a variety of upgrades. When it comes to audio systems, BMW sound systems often don’t play loudly enough or have enough bass. They can fix that. If you want a remote car starter, they can add that. Let’s look into these upgrades in detail.

BMW Audio System Upgrades

If you have a BMW car or SUV with the Base or Hi-Fi-level factory-installed audio system, getting great sound is pretty easy. Companies such as Audison and Audiotec Fischer offer BMW-specific upgrade packages that include new speakers, subwoofers and amplifiers designed especially for these applications. Likewise, Musicar Northwest, a high-end retailer located in Portland, Oregon, offers amazing upgrade packages and BMW-specific subwoofer enclosures that look and sound amazing.

BMW Upgrades
The UP 7BMW from the Match line by Audiotec Fischer was designed specifically as an upgrade for BMW vehicles equipped with the Hi-Fi sound system. This seven-channel amp will deliver up to 65 watts from each of the five main channels and up to 320 watts from the pair of subwoofer channels for great sound.

If your BMW came with the top Hi-Fi system, interfaces from Audison and mObridge allow your retailer to replace the factory amplifier with a high-power aftermarket solution. Combining new speakers, a subwoofer and a digital signal processor will allow the sound system will spring to life with amazing detail and accuracy that will rival most high-end home systems.

BMW Upgrades
Extreme Audio near Richmond, Virginia, upgraded this 2017 BMW 535i GT with an Arc Audio PS8-50 eight-channel amplifier with integrated digital signal processing.

Radar Detector and Laser Defense Upgrades

There’s no doubt that many BMW vehicles are extremely fun to drive at speeds well above the posted limits. While we always recommend obeying all traffic laws, sometimes you may run afoul of the local law enforcement agency. If you have a heavy right foot, investing in a high-quality radar detector and laser defense system is a wise investment. Radar detectors from such companies as Escort, K40, Stinger and Radenso offer early warnings about police speed measurement, so you have time to check your speed.

BMW Upgrades
The Escort MAX 360c portable radar detector detects X, K and Ka-band radar and includes Wi-Fi connectivity that allows your smartphone to work with the unit to provide crowd-sourced warnings using the Escort Live application.

If your local law enforcement agency uses lidar (also known as laser) guns to measure speed, you’ll want to upgrade your vehicle with a custom-installed laser defense solution. These systems detect the light signal from the laser gun and transmit a scrambled signal to prevent the law enforcement officer from measuring your speed. You can slow down then cancel the transmission. The officer will make a second attempt to measure your velocity, then let you carry on your way. Be sure to choose a retailer that is well-versed in how to design and install laser defense systems. Improper installation and alignment can leave you susceptible to speed traps, making the investment a waste of time and money.

BMW Upgrades
e two small circles under the front grille of this VW Golf GTI are the Stinger Fiber Laser receiver and transmitter. These ultra-compact fiber-optic units protect the driver from all models of lidar gun, including the dreaded DragonEye. The installation was performed by Mobile Solutions of Calgary in Alberta.

BMW Upgrades
his 2020 BMW M2 Competition was upgraded with an Escort MAX Ci radar detector and an AL Priority laser defense system by Matt Schaeffer of Sound FX Home Theatre and Car Audio in Lewes, Delaware.

Remote Starters

Having a remote starter in your BMW is a great way to make it more comfortable on a cold winter morning or a hot summer afternoon. By pressing a button on your factory key fob, an aftermarket long-range remote or an app on your smartphone, the engine in your car will start and begin making the interior more comfortable.

BMW Upgrades
The DroneMobile app works with remote starter hardware in your vehicle to ensure that you can start your vehicle from anywhere that you have internet connectivity. You can upgrade the service package to include GPS locating and geofencing alerts. If you’re worried about someone towing your vehicle, this a great option.

Backup Camera Integration

If your BMW didn’t come with a backup camera from the factory, don’t fret. Upgrading your vehicle is a relatively simple process. Companies such as NAV-TV offer several video input interfaces that work with the factory color display in the dash of your BMW. Your retailer can add a high-quality camera to the back (or front) of your car or SUV to make parking and maneuvering safer. If your car doesn’t have a screen in the dash, an upgraded rearview mirror with a built-in display is a great option to make backing up safer.

BMW Upgrades
Westminster Speed and Sound near Baltimore upgraded this 2015 328i with a backup camera system that reads steering wheel angle information and displays dynamic lines that show the vehicle’s path.

Window Tint and Paint Protection Film

Many specialty mobile enhancement retailers offer window tinting and paint protection film installations. Window tint can dramatically improve the look of your BMW while making it safer and more comfortable. High-quality automotive tint film blocks between 97% and 99% of the UV rays from the sun to help prevent sunburn. Premium ceramic and nanotechnology tint films block infrared energy to help keep the interior of your vehicle cool and comfortable.

BMW Upgrades
Sound Depot and Performance in Gainesville, Florida, installed 3M Scotchgard Pro paint protection film and Crystalline window tint on this 2018 BMW M2.

BMW Accessories and Upgrades

A set of molded rubber floor mats from companies like WeatherTech or Husky is a great way to keep the interior looking like new. These mats fit the contour of floor and extend up the sides to keep dirt, mud, sand, snow or slush out of the carpet. A few extra USB ports, a set of upgraded HID or LED headlights or custom accent lighting are also popular upgrades. If there’s a feature you wish your BMW had come with, drop into a local specialty mobile enhancement retailer and ask them. We think you’ll be surprised at the options available to make your Ultimate Driving Machine even better.

Product Spotlight: Compustar CS697-A Vehicle Security System

Compustar Security

Though best known for its class-leading remote car starters, Compustar is rolling out a new line of vehicle security systems that includes the affordable CS697-A to protect your car or truck. While many vehicle owners believe the security system that comes with their vehicle is adequate, the reality is that those solutions are limited in their capabilities. An aftermarket alarm is the only way to completely protect your vehicle.

Features of the Compustar CS697-A Vehicle Security System

The CS697-A car alarm includes a dual-stage shock sensor, starter disable circuitry and two remote controls. The shock sensor monitors the body of the car or truck for sudden impacts from door dings in a parking lot or an attempt to break a window. Moderate impacts will result in the system honking the vehicle horn and flashing the parking lights. Significant impacts set off the full alarm, flashing the lights and honking the horn for 30 seconds. The system also includes dedicated door monitoring inputs and the ability to monitor the hood and trunk or hatch of your car or SUV. Additional sensors and door switches can be added for commercial vehicles or heavy-equipment applications.

Compustar Security
The CS697-A is based on the easily expandable Compustar CM2400 control module.

The system includes keyless entry functionality that will let you lock or unlock your doors remotely. Your installer can integrate the 697-A system with the remote trunk or hatch release function to make loading or unloading easier. The system activates the interior dome light for 45 seconds after receiving the unlock command so you can make sure everything inside is safe before you get in. Finally, two auxiliary outputs are provided to control options like a power sliding door or power window control module for added convenience.

Compustar Security
The CS697-A includes a pair of four-button remotes that control the alarm and keyless entry functions.

According to the FBI, almost 250,000 vehicles are stolen in the United States every year. To help combat this, Compustar includes its E-LOCK relay in the 697-A. When properly integrated into your vehicle, this relay functions as a stand-alone starter-kill to further complicate the efforts of thieves hoping to steal your vehicle.

Vehicle Protection Upgrade Options

While this vehicle security system provides a solid set of features, just like Compustar’s remote car starters, it’s based around a control unit that’s easily upgradable. A high-output siren can be added to attract additional attention to the vehicle. Likewise, the DAS-II four-in-one sensor is another popular upgrade as it adds a digital tilt/motion sensor with glass breakage detection. If you’re concerned about wheel or catalytic converter theft, DAS-II is a great option.

You can also add the KP2 touchpad that mounts to the inside of your windshield. You can enter a user-defined code by touching the glass to disarm and unlock the vehicle. You can also choose to upgrade to a two-way remote control that will alert you when the alarm is triggered. If you choose a remote upgrade package like the PRO R5 or PRO T13, the proximity unlock function will unlock the doors automatically when you are within about 6 feet of the vehicle.

Compustar Security
The optional DAS-II sensor adds tilt, motion and glass-breakage monitoring to the CS697-A.

The ultimate upgrade is the Drone telematics system. You can be anywhere on the planet and still receive security warning notifications from your car or truck, so long as your smartphone can access the Internet. Better yet, Drone includes options to add GPS-based features that will send alerts if the car or truck moves while the system is armed or during user-programmable curfew hours. Impact, motion, tilt and glass breakage alerts from the DAS-II sensor are also relayed to your smartphone using the DroneMobile app.

Compustar Security
The DroneMobile app on your smartphone will display alerts from the CS697-A, including those from the optional DAS-II sensor.

Protect Your Investment with an Aftermarket Car Alarm

In 2019, Ford and Ram pickup trucks were the top two most stolen vehicles in the U.S. While these trucks came with factory-installed security, their popularity made them key targets for thieves. An aftermarket security system adds valuable damage and vandalism protection and a second starter-kill circuit that, when appropriately integrated, makes unauthorized starting of the vehicle nearly impossible.

Drop by your local Compustar retailer today to learn more about the CS697-A and its security and convenience options. You can learn more about Compustar car alarm and remote starter solutions by visiting their website, Facebook Page, Instagram Page or their YouTube channel.

Popular Upgrades for Ford Pickup Trucks

Ford Upgrades

Widely recognized as the top-selling pickup truck in North America, Ford F-Series pickup trucks see an array of upgrades and accessories that is nothing short of impressive. From subwoofer and speaker upgrades to lighting, running boards, backup cameras and more, if there’s a feature you want in your Ford, your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer can provide it. Read on to find out more about the enhancements available for your pickup and how they can improve your efficiency, comfort and convenience while on your way to work, school or home.

Ford Pickup Truck Audio System Upgrades

Upgrading the factory-installed stereo system in these vehicles can make listening to your favorite music infinitely more enjoyable. The biggest bang-for-the-buck upgrade is to add a subwoofer to the stereo. When it comes to making bass, sound systems need to move a lot of air. Companies like MTI Acoustics, JL Audio, Audio Enhancers and MTX make subwoofer enclosures that are designed to fit under the rear seat of most F-150 and Super Duty Ford trucks. These enclosures are available with a color-matching carpet finish, and some include options for vinyl upholstery that matches the interior of your vehicle. Your local retailer may also be capable of designing and fabricating a custom solution that meets your performance and styling needs.

Ford Upgrades
This Stage 3 subwoofer enclosure for Ford F-150s includes custom upholstery with matched stitching. You can choose from a variety of badges or emblems to personalize the look of the system while adding amazing bass to your music.

Once you have great bass in your truck, the next step is to replace the speakers and add an amplifier. Whether you’re after more output capability or want to improve the accuracy, clarity and detail in your music, great speakers are crucially important. A set of component speakers connected to a nice amplifier will reveal details in your music that the factory-installed speakers simply can’t produce.

 Ford Upgrades
Multimedia receivers like the Sony XAV-AX7000 feature a 7-inch touchscreen with an intuitive interface. The system includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Upgrading the Technology in Your Ford Truck

If your truck is older, you may want to consider upgrading the infotainment system to something that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration. These interfaces allow you to use the voice recognition features of your smartphone to perform tasks like sending text messages, making phone calls, choosing an entertainment source or requesting navigation directions. You don’t have to look at the screen of the radio, which means you can keep your eyes on the road.

Ford Upgrades
The ADS FTR1 dash kit makes it easy for the technician working on your 2015 or newer F-150 or Super Duty to install an aftermarket double-DIN multimedia receiver. The kit includes a wiring harness so the factory cabling doesn’t have to be altered.

Parking Sensor and Camera Systems

If your truck didn’t come with a backup camera or parking sensors, having those added is a great way to prevent accidents. Parking sensors are installed in the rear bumper and provide an audible alert when you’re within about 3 feet of an object. The warning beeps become a solid tone when you are 1 foot away. The beauty of a parking sensor system is that it’s automatic. You don’t have to remember to use it like you would a backup camera. If an alert is warranted, it just happens.

Backup cameras not only let you see what’s behind your vehicle when parking, but they are also a great accessory for people who tow a trailer. Being able to ensure that the tongue is lined up with the hitch can save a lot of time. Many options are available for integrating the camera image into an existing infotainment display, or you can upgrade the rearview mirror to one with a built-in screen.

Ford Upgrades
If you own a 2017 or newer Super Duty with the five-camera trailer towing package, NAV-TV’s Camera-On-Demand module is a great upgrade. The system adds turn-signal-activated blind-spot monitoring, last-camera display retention and real-time access to all cameras while driving.

Remote Starter and GPS Location Options

Whether you live in the cold Northern states or in Canada, or in the South where it’s hotter than Hades, adding a remote starter to your truck is an easy way to make it much more comfortable. Your retailer can suggest a control solution that will provide adequate range so that you can start the truck from inside your home or while at work.

Ford Upgrades
If you want the most features and longest control range possible from an RF remote, the Compustar T12 is an ideal choice. This two-way LCD remote provides up to 3 miles of range to let you warm up your truck in the winter or cool it off in the summer.

If you need more range than a conventional radio-frequency remote control can offer, then ask about a telematics solution that works with your smartphone. The DroneMobile, SmartStart, MyCar and AutoConnect solutions send commands from an app on your phone to a module in the vehicle. As long as your phone has an internet connection, you can control the door locks and remote start the vehicle.

Truck Accessories Add Safety and Convenience

Your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer may offer such truck accessories as running boards, bed covers, mud flaps, seat covers and floor mats to add convenience and functionality to your Ranger, F-150 or Super Duty. If you have lifted your truck or chosen something fun like a Raptor, a set of Powerstep motorized running boards from Amp Research is a great idea. These boards sit up tight to the rocker panels while you’re driving, then fold down to make it easy to get in and out of the vehicle once a door is open.

Ford Upgrades
Motorized steps make it easy to enter and exit your vehicle while maintaining ground clearance and aerodynamics as you drive.

Soft tonneau covers are a great way to keep leaves, dust, water and debris out of the bed of your truck. They can be rolled up quickly to access the entire bed to carry large items. A folding or roll-up hard cover adds security and protection for your tools or work equipment.

One of the easiest ways to keep the interior of your truck looking like new is to add a set of vehicle-specific floor mats. Companies like WeatherTech offer durable, long-wearing mats that contour to the sides of the footwells to protect the carpet from sand, mud, snow and slush.

Window Tint and Paint Protection Film

Another popular accessory available for Ford vehicles is window tint. Many consumers want their windows tinted to enhance the look of their vehicle. At the same time, adding window tint protects the occupants from the harmful effects of UV rays from the sun. A premium nanotechnology or ceramic film can help block infrared energy to help keep your vehicle cool. Ask your retailer what they have available, and be sure to check your local laws about how dark the tint can be.

Personalize and Upgrade your Ford Pickup

A nearly unlimited number of upgrades can enhance the cosmetics, performance and convenience of your Ford truck, even if it’s leased. If you own a Ranger, F-150 or Ford Super Duty, drop by your local specialty mobile enhancement retailer today to find out what’s available to customize your vehicle.
